Step 10 - Configure the Netgear 834GT router to work with static IP addresses - Basic Settings

If you have not already done so, you will need to log into the Netgear 834GT router and configure it to work with a static IP address. The default IP address of the Netgear 834GT router is http://192.168.0.1. The default user ID is 'admin' and the default password is 'password'. If you do not know how to log into the router, follow Steps 1 - 6 at http://www.lowercall.com/linksys/linksys1.html EXACTLY (substituting the router for camera) and log into the router. Below is a picture of what the 'Basic Settings' page should look like. NB REMEMBER TO DISABLE THE NETWORK ADDRESS TRANSLATION (NAT) OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VIEW THE CAMERA'S FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD!

Step 11 - Configure the Netgear 834GT router to work with static IP addresses - LAN IP Settings

Click on LAN IP settings and enter the static IP address of the Netgear 834GT router - in this example 88.96.23.254. The other setting you'll need to change is the IP subnet mask which is 255.255.255.248 in this example.

Step 12 - Configure the Netgear 834GT router to work with static IP addresses - UPnP

You may need to enable the UPnP setting to get the Linksys Wireless G WVC54G camera to work with the Netgear 834GT router.

Step 13 - Configure the Netgear 834GT router to work with static IP addresses - Remote Management

It is advisable to turn on the remote management. This will enable you to log into the router from a different physical location.
